Julio César Rubio

Julio César Rubio (June 5, 1999) is a film director and editor born in Morelia, Michoacán. Originally trained as a musician from an early age in Morelia, he later became a self-taught film editor. His editorial work includes projects such as the feature film Devil’s Pitch (in post-production) and the short film Aguacuario (2024), which premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. In 2020, he entered the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City to specialize in directing. There, he directed, co-wrote, and edited the short film 5 STEPS (For a Farewell) (2025), which marked his debut at the Morelia International Film Festival. He currently lives in Mexico City, working across short films, music videos, documentaries, and commercials.
